Note Change from In-Person to Virtual Event

Anyone already registered for the in-person event at Granite City is automatically registered for the Virtual Event and will receive a full refund!

We apologize! We were really looking forward to having a live event with in-person networking, but in light of the rapid spread of the Delta strain, the Board felt it more prudent to avoid a live meeting.  With the recent CDC and State guidelines requiring masks indoors even for vaccinated people, we were getting a good amount of push-back.  Some people didn't want to wear masks, and others didn't want to go if others weren't going to wear masks.  It was getting too complicated to find a solution that would fit everyone (or even the majority).  And we don't feel we would get the attendance needed for a successful live event.  We would prefer you save your dollars until we can resume live meetings on an ongoing basis safely (we are targeting October).

Topic: Future-Prepping Your Career: How to Thrive Now and In the Years to Come

What a year we've lived through, right? As you peer into the future, perhaps you have a sense of relief. Of anticipation. Or maybe the craziness of the last year just amplifies fears about the future as it brought on so much disruption.

In this keynote, Andy Kaufman will lead a discussion on how to future-prep your career. The next disruption maybe won't be a global pandemic, however disruptions are here to stay. We'll talk about practical ways to continually prepare for the future, with ideas from many of the thought-leaders that Andy has interviewed on his People and Projects Podcast. Join us for this optimistic, action-focused discussion that will prepare you for this year and beyond.

As a result of this keynote, participants will be able to:

  • Explain why complacency is so tempting (and how to overcome it)
  • Describe how thinking like an entrepreneur helps you prepare your career for the future
  • Describe how to make yourself and your work more visible (without being a jerk)
  • Explain strategies to make it easier for your next job to find you instead of you looking for your next job
The presentation and Q&A will go from 5:30 to 6:30, followed by 30 minutes of networking to meet new people.
