Shefali is a seasoned professional with expertise in information security, higher education, privacy, HIPAA, research, healthcare policy and strategy, promoting Interoperability (PI) and compliance. With 30+ years of cybersecurity, privacy, and higher education experience – including 20+ years of healthcare experience, she is acknowledged as a cybersecurity and privacy Subject Matter Expert (SME). Shefali also has a keen interest in the adoption of innovative technology and provides leadership, consultation, coordination, and integration of information processes with enterprise-wide information technology and information security and privacy strategies.
Nitin Raina – Chief Information Security Officer, Thoughtworks and 2025 MIDCAP CISO of the Year
Nitin brings 25+ years of experience in IT, Security and Risk leadership, to his role, which focuses on safeguarding both clients and internal business by ensuring security is embedded into every stage of technology delivery. Nitin’s mandate is to prioritize and balance security, technology, and risk considerations in ways that enable trusted client partnerships while protecting the enterprise.
Over Nitin’s career, he has developed a strong ability to translate between technical and business contexts, helping clients and internal stakeholders alike to bridge gaps across people, process, and technology, and to deliver security strategies that not only protect but also empower innovation, enabling organizations to operate with confidence and achieve sustainable growth.
Karen Habercoss – Chief Information Security Officer, University of Chicago Medicine Health System
Karen Habercoss is the Vice President, Chief Information Security and Privacy Officer for The University of Chicago Medicine Health System. She is responsible for the enterprise strategy and overall operations of the health system Information Security and Privacy Office. She also co-leads AI Governance for the health system. Karen has Master’s Degrees in Business Administration and Clinical Social Work. Prior to her current role, she worked in the Compliance Department at The Joint Commission and as the Corporate Compliance and Quality Officer for PRS, LLC, a healthcare start up. Karen holds the following certifications: CIPM, CISM, CDPSE, AIGP, QTE, CCEP, CHC, CHPC, and CHRC and maintains her Illinois licensure in clinical social work. She is the chair of the HIMSS Cybersecurity, Privacy, and Security Committee and chair of the Association of American Medical Colleges Compliance Officers’ Forum Steering Committee. Karen is the past co-lead of the Privacy-Security Task Group for the Healthcare and Public Health Sector Coordinating Council Cybersecurity Working Group. She speaks regularly on the topic of Privacy-Security collaboration strategies to reduce enterprise and AI risk.
